Karachi businessman Muzammil Kareem Paracha, who purchased the “A1” number plate for a record-breaking Rs 100 million in the recent Sindh premium number plate auction, passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer.
Muzammil Pracha owned property and businesses worth hundreds of millions of rupees. He was also the owner of several companies and was known for his passion for rare and high-end vehicles. His personal collection included various types of luxury cars, for which he had also acquired unique and exclusive number plates.
It should be noted that the Sindh government held its first premium number plate auction, generating a total of 67.54 Crore PKR from 40 plates. The “A1” plate fetched the highest bid at 100 million rupees. Muzamal Kareem was the successful bidder for the “A1” plate.
The Premium Number 1 plate was auctioned for Rs 100 million, followed by Premium Number 5 at Rs 50.3 million, Number 7 at Rs 40.6 million, Number 8 at Rs 40.10 million, and Number 9 at Rs 40 million.
The auction was organized by the Sindh Excise Department and held at a local hotel in Karachi.
Another notable sale included the premium number plate ‘786’, which was purchased for Rs 20.65 million by a businessman named Sarosh. Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah formally handed over the ownership certificate to him.

Speaking at the event, Excise Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla emphasized that the purpose of the premium number plate auction was not to promote elitism but to serve a noble cause. He added that premium number plates, much like gold and other assets, represent a valuable form of investment.
