The Sindh government has officially issued a notification setting the minimum monthly wage at Rs. 40,000 for all workers employed in industrial and commercial establishments across the province.
The decision will take effect from July 1, 2025, and aims to provide economic relief to the working class burdened by rising inflation.
According to Sindh Minister for Labor, Shahid Thaheem, the monthly wage for semi-skilled workers has been fixed at Rs. 41,380, for skilled workers at Rs. 49,628, and for highly skilled workers at Rs. 51,745. He clarified that these wage rates will be uniformly applicable to all registered and unregistered industrial and commercial enterprises, and male and female workers will be paid equally.
The notification also mandates that establishments paying workers on an hourly basis must ensure a minimum payment of Rs. 192 per hour.
The Labor Minister said that the Sindh government is pursuing labor-friendly policies and is taking practical measures to ensure workers’ welfare, fair wages, and a better working environment.
He stressed that the primary objective of increasing the minimum wage is to provide workers with a dignified standard of living and to reduce economic inequality.
