ISLAMABAD: The Ruet-i-Hilal Committee has announced that the Ramazan moon was not sighted in all parts of the country, and the holy month will commence on Saturday.
Mufti Muneebur Rehman chaired the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee meeting today (Thursday) while meeting of other zonal and district committees were also arranged simultaneously.
The holy month of Ramazan will be observed amid the coronavirus pandemic this year, which has brought most countries to a halt.
For the first time in the country’s history, an official from Science Ministry was also included in the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
The Ministry of Science and Technology earlier announced that the holy month of Ramazan will commence from April 25.
Earlier on Wednesday, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had also ruled out the possibility of sighting the moon in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today.
