KARACHI: Sindh government today (Thursday) has announced that it has established Pakistan’s biggest COVID-19 laboratory at Karachi University’s International Centre for Chemical and Biological Research.
Senator Murtaza Wahab took to Twitter and announced the establishment of the COVID-19 laboratory.
He said, “Sindh govt has established a COVID-19 laboratory at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Research, Karachi University. It has become functional from today with a capacity of 800 tests a day.”

In this regard, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that the provincial government has set up Pakistan’s largest laboratory at Karachi University, adding that the laboratory will further expand in the coming three weeks.
Commenting on the virus statistics, Murad Ali Shah informed that almost 36 out of 176 passengers on a flight from Muscat tested positive for coronavirus.
“Furthermore, 22 out of 512 passengers, who traveled to Pakistan in two separate flights from Angola and Dubai, also tested positive for coronavirus,” he added.
So far, the number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Pakistan has climbed up to 10,811. The nation-wide death toll has risen to 228 with 73 deaths reported from Sindh.
