In anticipation of Eid al-Adha, it has been decided that temporary livestock markets will be made operational across Punjab from 13 May, enabling residents to buy and sell sacrificial animals.
According to the Punjab Cattle Market Management Company, a total of five temporary sale points will be established in the city, while the Shahpur Kanjran Cattle Market will continue to function as a permanent model facility.
Officials have stated that the temporary sale points will include Saggian Cattle Sale Point (25 acres), Wagah Sports Complex (50 acres), Burki Road Sale Point (20 acres), LDA City (65 acres), and Raiwind Cattle Sale Point (25 acres).
To facilitate the public, these markets will be equipped with tents, clean drinking water, and informational signage to ensure a smooth buying and selling process.
For security arrangements, the Punjab Police and paramilitary forces will be deployed, while the Health Department and Rescue 1122 will remain on-site to respond to any emergencies.
Additionally, the Livestock Department and other relevant authorities will contribute to the arrangements to provide a safe and well-organised environment for citizens.
Experts note that as Eid al-Adha approaches, activity in livestock markets typically increases, making it easier for residents to purchase animals.
