ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department on Thursday warned of windstorms and scattered rainfall across western and northern districts over the next two to five hours, as a weather system develops over the country’s western regions.
According to the forecast, parts of northern Balochistan — including Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, Ziarat, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah and Khuzdar — as well as Sibi, Chaman and Shirani, are likely to experience gusty winds, light to moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms.

Several districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, notably Parachinar, Pakistan’s tribal belt, Kurram, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Bajaur, Khyber, Kohat, Dir, Chitral, Swat and Malam Jabba, are also expected to be affected. Western Sindh districts Shahdadkot and Dadu may see similar conditions.
The department cautioned that hailstorms could occur at a few locations during the spell. Members of the public were urged to take precautionary measures, secure loose outdoor items and avoid unnecessary travel; motorists were advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.
Officials advised farmers and livestock owners to shift animals to safe shelter where feasible and to monitor further updates from the Meteorological Department.
