KARACHI: Residents of the metropolis are grappling with intensified hardships as Sui Southern Gas Company implements a strict daytime and nighttime gas shutdown schedule — from 10 am to 12 pm, 3 pm to 6 pm, and overnight from 10 pm to 5:30 am — exacerbating daily struggles already strained by skyrocketing fuel and commodity prices.
Other than the implemented supply schedule, gas load shedding continues across key neighborhoods including FB Area, North Nazimabad, Malir, Landhi, Orangi Town, Gulshan-Iqbal, Nazimabad, Garden, and Liaquatabad, with reports of delayed restoration — such as Sunday’s failure to resume supply until 10 am after repeated consumer complaints.
These disruptions compound public frustration as inflation, driven by diesel-dependent logistics, pushes essentials out of reach — leaving households to navigate cooking, heating, and transportation challenges with dwindling resources and unreliable utilities.
