ISLAMABAD: Sisters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan staged a sit-in outside the Islamabad High Court on Monday after the court’s cause list was canceled and a hearing in the Al-Qadir Trust case involving Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi was not taken up as scheduled.

The hearing on the bail petitions in the Qadir University Trust case had been fixed for 11:00 a.m. before a two‑member bench in Courtroom No. 1. Protesters, led by Aleema Khan, remained outside the court after officials said the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar, was unavailable.
“We will not leave from here until a new date is given in the Al-Qadir Trust case,” Aleema Khan declared. She accused the judiciary of denying justice to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi and warned of sustained resistance: “We will sit here, we will not get up, even if we have to sit all night — bring police and tear gas, until they give a date we will not get up.”

Aleema Khan criticized the functioning of the courts and questioned judicial accountability, saying, “What kind of courts have they established here? Here, petty Pharaohs are seated. Is the monthly expenditure of millions of rupees on these judges for them not to deliver justice, not to hold hearings for half a day? What is the fault of the rest of Pakistan?”
Recalling her conversation exchanges with court staff, Aleema Khan said when she asked why the case was not being heard, a court secretary said the Chief Justice had gone to the Supreme Court. Asked whether the hearing would be held the next day, the secretary replied that a Turkish delegation — including the head of Turkey’s Constitutional Court — was being hosted, and that the hearing date could not be confirmed until the Chief Justice returned. To this, Aleema responded that she would inform Turkish media that those being hosted were “killing justice,” and reiterated that “justice is being denied.”
