Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah claim to have inflicted heavy losses on Israeli forces by destroying a large number of Merkava tanks during ongoing clashes.
The group claimed they destroyed up to 100 Merkava tanks in the month of March. It highlights the growing effectiveness of Almas and Kornet anti-tank missiles against Trophy-equipped armor, raising critical questions about survivability in saturation warfare environments.
According to the report, the Iran-backed group claims it targeted and destroyed nearly 100 Israeli tanks, each estimated to cost around $6 million, through coordinated missile and drone strikes across southern Lebanon and surrounding areas.
The attacks are said to have occurred within a short timeframe, with Hezbollah portraying the operation as a major blow to Israeli armored forces.
Several locations, including Debel, Al Qantara and Taybeh, were reportedly struck using guided missiles and unmanned aerial systems.
Combat footage released between March 22 and 26, along with assessments from analysts, suggests the systematic use of advanced anti-tank guided missiles against Israel’s heavily protected armored units. This has raised concerns over the effectiveness of Trophy defense systems when faced with coordinated saturation attacks.
