Turkish actress Hande Erçel was detained and questioned in Istanbul as part of a drug investigation involving several high-profile figures.
She later appeared before prosecutors at the Istanbul Courthouse in Caglayan and was referred to the Council of Forensic Medicine for hair and blood sampling as part of the probe.
Erçel, widely known for her roles in television dramas such as Güneşin Kızları, Aşk Laftan Anlamaz and Sen Çal Kapımı, has also gained recognition through film and international projects.
The investigation, launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on March 25, targets 16 suspects accused of drug possession or facilitating narcotics use.
Authorities said simultaneous raids were conducted by anti-narcotics police teams across Istanbul. Earlier, detention orders had been issued for Erçel and others, including Kaan Mellart, while 14 suspects were initially taken into custody.
Following questioning, several individuals were presented before lower courts for decisions on arrest or judicial control. Some suspects face travel bans, while others have been placed under house arrest or released after recording their statements, as the investigation continues.
