WhatsApp is reportedly planning to introduce a new premium subscription tier called WhatsApp Plus, according to information shared by WABetaInfo.
WhatsApp will continue to keep its basic messaging service free, but users who subscribe to WhatsApp Plus will gain access to additional premium features.
Features of WhatsApp Plus
Subscribers will be provided with extra customisation tools, allowing them to change the app icon and apply new themes.
A total of 14 new app icons are expected to be introduced, along with additional colour options.
Subscribers will also receive exclusive coloured ringtones.
Additional features
Subscribers will be able to pin up to 20 chats, compared with the current limit of only three chats.
Over time, more features are expected to be added, including exclusive sticker packs, interactive chatting features and other additional tools for subscribers.
However, the official launch date and subscription price for WhatsApp Plus have not yet been confirmed. Further details are expected once WhatsApp makes a formal announcement.
