The Emirates Cricket Board has named a 15-player squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, appointing Mohammad Waseem as captain as the UAE prepares for its third appearance at the mega event.
The Emirates Cricket Board on Friday named a 15-member UAE squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Mohammad Waseem will lead the UAE cricket team in the T20 World Cup. Several Pakistani-origin players and officials are part of the UAE team setup.
The UAE squad for the T20 World Cup includes Mohammad Waseem (captain), Alishan Sharafu, Aryansh Sharma, Dhruv Parashar, Haider Ali, Harshit Kaushik, Junaid Siddique, Mayank Kumar, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Farooq, Mohammad Jawadullah, Mohammad Zohaib, Rohid Khan, Sohaib Khan, and Sumerjeet Singh.
It is worth noting that the UAE qualified for the 20-team tournament after defeating Japan in the Super Six stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia and East Asia-Pacific Qualifier held in Oman.
The UAE has previously featured in the T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2022 but failed to progress beyond the group stage on both occasions.
The UAE will officially begin its T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a match against New Zealand on February 10.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be played from February 7 to March 8 in India and Sri Lanka.
