A child was killed and another injured after a gun accidentally went off while children were playing with a pistol inside a house in Lahore’s Baghbanpura area.
According to police, the incident occurred in Ahmed Town, where three minor brothers were at home. The boys, 15-year-old Umar, 14-year-old Waris, and 9-year-old Muhammad Azaan, picked up a pistol lying in the house to play with.
During the activity, the weapon accidentally discharged from the hands of 14-year-old Waris, hitting his two brothers, Umar and Azaan.
Umar was immediately shifted to Shalimar Hospital for medical treatment and was later referred to General Hospital due to his critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Nine-year-old Muhammad Azaan sustained serious injuries in the firing incident and is currently under treatment.
Police said a case has been registered, and 14-year-old Waris has been taken into custody and handed over for investigation.
According to police officials, the deceased child, the injured child, and the accused are all brothers. A detailed investigation is underway to determine who owned the pistol and how the children gained access to it.
