The Big Bash saga in Sydney involved an interesting incident for Mohammad Rizwan.
The Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman playing for Melbourne Renegades got retired mid-innings against Sydney Thunder due to the slow strike rate of Mohammad Rizwan as decided by the captain of Melbourne Renegades, Will Sutherland.
Rizwan was adjudged to have come in on the fourth over and hadI made 26 off 23 deliveries, including two fours and a huge six. But his strike rate of 113.04 was not good in the quick pace of t-20 cricket.
Rizwan’s next decision was to retire and hand over the strike to Sutherland, who was run out for a single on the next delivery.
A spokesperson for Renegades came out and explained that this is part of an attempt to increase the pace of play in an innings.
Rizwan proved his technical merit as well as some flair in his play but Renegades require an increased pace to accumulate an attractive score.
