A six-year-old boy, who was allegedly struck on the head with a stick by his madressah teacher in the Manghopir area last month, succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Monday.
The victim, identified as Hassan, was reportedly assaulted by his teacher in December. Following the incident, police registered a formal case and took the suspect into custody.
Hassan’s father, Habib-ur-Rehman, shared the heartbreaking timeline of his son’s deteriorating health:
Hassan was first admitted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) immediately after the assault. He was discharged a few days later.
Shortly after returning home, the child’s condition worsened, leading to his readmission.
Due to his critical state, he was moved from Jinnah Hospital to the National Institute of Child Health (NICH).
Despite medical efforts, Hassan passed away today. His father noted that doctors informed him the child’s lungs had eventually failed.
Grieving his loss, Habib-ur-Rehman maintained that his son never fully recovered from the head injury sustained that day. “My son was hit on the head, and he remained unwell from that moment until his death,” he stated.
