Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has inaugurated a ferry terminal at the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), describing the initiative as a milestone toward promoting regional and coastal tourism and strengthening Pakistan’s blue economy (maritime economy).
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the federal minister said the launch of the ferry service marks the realization of a long-standing vision to introduce modern, safe, and sustainable maritime passenger transport in Pakistan.
He added that the service, expected to commence later this month, is fully aligned with the prime minister’s vision of harnessing the vast potential of the maritime economy and expanding marine activities.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry further said that the ferry service is not merely a mode of transportation but a gateway to economic opportunities, tourism promotion, and regional connectivity.
He emphasized that this is the first ferry service license ever issued in Pakistan’s history, calling it a historic achievement for the maritime sector.
The federal minister said the inauguration of the ferry terminal would further enhance confidence and trust within the business community. Highlighting growing investor interest, he noted that more entrepreneurs have expressed keen interest in obtaining ferry service licenses.
