Punjab Police have finalized a comprehensive security plan to maintain law and order across the province, including Lahore on New Year’s Night.
Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has issued instructions to keep security on high alert throughout the province and directed all field formations to remain fully vigilant.
According to the IG Punjab, more than 25,000 police officers and personnel will perform security duties across the province on New Year’s Night, while over 5,000 police personnel have been deployed in Lahore alone.
The deployed force includes 419 inspectors, 1,267 sub-inspectors, 2,189 assistant sub-inspectors, 1,408 head constables, and 16,977 constables.
Dr. Usman Anwar said that all activities across Lahore and the entire province will be closely monitored through CCTV cameras. Police have been instructed to keep a special watch on anti-state elements, suspicious individuals, and those involved in violations of the law.
The IG Punjab made it clear that one-wheeling, aerial firing, and hooliganism will be completely banned during New Year’s Night. Immediate action will be taken against miscreants who harass women or citizens, and they will be detained in lockups.
He also ordered ensuring coordinated and effective traffic arrangements on New Year’s Night. Patrols by the Dolphin Squad, PERU, Elite Force, and Punjab Highway Patrol will be increased, while search and sweep operations will continue in Lahore as well as all cities across the province.
