Fazil Jameeli was elected President and Aslam Khan Secretary as the Democrats panel once again won all seats in the annual Karachi Press Club elections.
A large number of journalists exercised their right to vote in the Karachi Press Club annual elections held yesterday. Polling began at 9:00 a.m. and continued without any break until 5:30 p.m.
The elections were contested among the Democrats, Democrat, Green Panel, and independent candidates. Out of 1,369 registered voter members of the Press Club, 1,011 cast their votes.
Election Committee head Dr. Tauseef Ahmed Khan announced the results at the Karachi Press Club. The Democrats panel achieved a clean sweep for the 18th consecutive time.
From the Democrats panel, Fazil Jameeli was elected President with 536 votes, while Aslam Khan was elected Secretary with 493 votes.
For the post of Vice President, Irshad Khokhar secured 480 votes; for Treasurer, Imran Ayub won with 622 votes; and for Joint Secretary, Farooq Sami was elected with 556 votes.
For the seven Governing Body seats, Abdul Jabbar Nasir, Akhtar Hussain Soomro, Sheema Siddiqui, Faryal Arif, Javed Saba, Syed Fareed Alam, and Javed Mehr were declared successful.
