In a bid to facilitate freelancers and startups, the government of Pakistan has announced plans to set up 250 co-working centers across the country, offering interest-free loans of up to Rs 10 million through partner banks.
According to the Ministry of IT and Telecommunications, the target for the current fiscal year is to establish 47 co-working centers, out of which 40 have been completed. Officials said the remaining centers will be set up by February 2027, covering cities nationwide.
The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) has invited applications from public and private sector organizations interested in partnering for the establishment of these centers.
The initiative is part of the Prime Minister’s Startup Support Program and aims to provide modern facilities and networking opportunities to freelancers and startups.
Under the program, interest-free loans of up to Rs 10 million will be offered through partner banks. The project operates under a public-private partnership model, with both the government and private sector sharing the cost of training and mentorship.
In major cities, the co-working centers will cover around 3,500 square feet, while in smaller cities, the focus will be on training and business guidance.
