Indian television icons Smriti Irani and Sakshi Tanwar recently came together for a crossover episode of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki.
The Diwali special episode hasn’t aired yet, but its promo has already sent fans into a frenzy. After the teaser went online, numerous behind-the-scenes photos from the sets surfaced.
Smriti posted a selfie with Sakshi on Instagram and reminisced about old times.
In the photo, Smriti and Sakshi appear in character as Tulsi and Parvati, respectively.

Smriti shared a heartfelt message with the image, reflecting on their friendship spanning two and a half decades. She noted that they never set out to make history, but it was created while they were “chasing excellence.”
She wrote, “Grace, grit, and gorgeousness—there are many adjectives I could attach to Sakshi, but I can’t capture how it felt to hold both the memory and reality of her after 2.5 decades of friendship.
We weren’t aware of the stir Tulsi Parvati caused, because we weren’t pursuing history; history was made as we pursued excellence.”
She went on to say she didn’t want to confine Sakshi to mere ‘complimentary phrases,’ calling her ‘all heart’ and writing, “To call her a loving mother, a doting daughter, an authentic human being is to shrink her to flattering words, to pin her to mere language … So what do you say to someone who can make even silence speak? You are loved, Sakshi, and I hope you know you are home, hope and all heart.”
Both Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii topped TRPs when they premiered in 2000.
The two shows, and the lead protagonists Tulsi and Parvati, became household names due to the success of the two shows. Smriti Irani and Sakshi Tanwar went on to do other projects, but the screen characters of Tulsi and Parvati have remained iconic more than two decades later.
Apart from Smriti and Sakshi’s characters, Tulsi and Parvati, actors Kiran Karmarkar’s Om and Amar Upadhyay’s Mihir will also feature in the special episode of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2.
