As the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show kicks off, once again iconic Angels spread their wings, dazzling the fashion world.
Gigi Hadid, without a doubt, was the star of the show in a Barbie-pink lingerie piece. Adriana Lima exemplified classic glamour, taking the catwalk by storm. While the show celebrated both fantasy and fashion, some might wonder: what do the wings mean, and how do models get them?
Victoria’s Secret models wings
Wings at Victoria’s Secret aren’t accessories to costumes, they’re a badge of excellence. Exclusive to high-profile models who are referred to as “Angels,” the wings are usually a career turning point for a model. The maxim is straightforward: the larger and more extravagant the wings, the higher and more respected the model in the company.
Getting wings is not instantaneous. Most models strut their stuff on several shows before they are rewarded with the privilege, showing their endurance and commitment to the brand’s image. It’s considered a rite of passage.
There are exceptions, however. There are models like Reese who defy conventions. She didn’t have to wait years, she made an impact right off the bat.
Becoming an Angel
Just a few models are dubbed “Angels,” a name that is accompanied by a contract and regular appearances in campaigns and shows.
Angels tend to be picked on the basis of popularity, professionalism, and their projection of the image of the brand.

Getting Wings
Wings are made especially for each show and given to Angels and some exceptional models.
Though all the Angels are assured at least one pair, other characters can be bestowed wings depending on their contribution or narrative in the series.
