ISLAMABAD: Azerbaijan has become an increasingly popular destination for Pakistani travellers, largely due to its simplified visa process and affordable fees.
Baku, the country’s capital, remains the main draw with its UNESCO-listed old city Icherisheher, the striking Flame Towers and vibrant Caspian Sea Boulevard.
Tourists are attracted by Azerbaijan’s deep history, colourful culture and distinctive architecture.
To facilitate visitors, Azerbaijan offers an online ASAN Visa system (https://evisa.gov.az/en/
) for electronic visit visas to citizens of many countries, including Pakistan.
Two categories are available:
Standard e-visa (single-entry, 30-day stay): $20 plus a $5 service fee; processing time 3–5 working days.
Urgent e-visa: $50; processing time 3–5 hours.
Each e-visa remains valid for 90 days, allowing a stay of up to 30 days in Azerbaijan.
Pakistani applicants need only a valid passport and its first-page photocopy, a completed visa application form, a recent passport photo, a medical certificate, an insurance certificate and online fee payment.
Officials say the simplified system has significantly boosted the number of Pakistani visitors exploring Azerbaijan’s mix of ancient heritage and modern attractions.
