The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP), and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) have rejected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s proposal to revive the Kalabagh Dam project.
According to details, ANP chief Aimal Wali Khan said that the Kalabagh Dam is not a solution to flooding.
JUI-F spokesperson for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Abdul Jalil Jan, dismissed the project as a “dead horse,” questioning the chief minister, “Where are the 350 dams he claimed to have built?”
“Kalabagh Dam is a dead horse that can never come back to life. Ali Amin Gandapur is misleading the public,” PPP General Secretary Humayun Khan said.
Earlier, PML-N leader and Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari had supported Gandapur’s stance on building the Kalabagh Dam and suggested a joint action plan among all provinces.
It is worth noting that just a day earlier, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur voiced his support for the Kalabagh Dam, saying that he would not allow provincialism to harm the interests of the entire country.
“We cannot push back a project beneficial to Pakistan. We must build projects like the Kalabagh Dam with consensus and for the country’s future. Concerns of all provinces should be addressed for the greater national interest,” he said.
