Renowned singer and humanitarian Hadiqa Kiani has appealed to communities living along the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab river belts to evacuate immediately as Pakistan faces one of its most severe flooding crises in recent years.
In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, Kiani stressed the urgency of the situation, warning residents in vulnerable settlements not to underestimate the danger.
“Pakistan is going through a difficult time. Floods are ravaging the country — KPK, Sindh and Punjab are on high alert. Settlements near the Ravi, Sutlej and Chenab are most vulnerable. It’s constantly raining, and water levels are constantly rising,” she said.
Her plea comes as the government issued emergency evacuation orders, urging citizens living near the three rivers to relocate to safer ground. The Pakistan Army has been deployed in eight districts, including Lahore, Kasur, Narowal, and Faisalabad, to assist in rescue and relief operations as thousands scramble to escape rising waters.
Worsening Crisis
Large parts of Punjab have already been submerged, leaving hundreds of thousands displaced. Floodwaters have swept away livestock, damaged homes, and destroyed vast stretches of agricultural land.
Officials report that the crisis has been aggravated not only by torrential monsoon rains but also by the release of excess water from Indian dams, which has poured into Pakistan’s river system, overwhelming embankments and flood defenses.
Kiani, who has long been active in humanitarian causes, urged the public to heed official warnings and prioritize safety. Relief organizations continue to mobilize as authorities brace for the situation to worsen in the coming days.
