A horrific incident unfolded in Sialkot where an influential owner of a petrol pump allegedly set a young man on fire in public during a dispute, leaving him critically injured.
According to media reports, the incident took place at a petrol pump located behind Satra Police Station. Despite the crime happening close to the station, police initially failed to intervene. The victim, identified as Qasim, sustained severe burns and is battling for his life.
Family members of the victim accused the suspects of attempting to sexually assault Qasim before setting him ablaze. They staged a protest on Gujranwala–Pasrur Road, alleging that the petrol pump owner had strong connections with local police.
Police have confirmed that the main suspect involved in the attack has been arrested. The FIR also includes charges of attempted sexual assault. A police spokesperson stated that suspects Intizar Ali and Taimoor doused their friend Qasim with petrol and set him on fire over a minor dispute.
District Police Officer (DPO) Sialkot, Faisal Shehzad, said he took immediate notice of the case and ordered the arrest of the culprits. He assured that the accused would face justice. “No one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands. The perpetrators will be punished according to the law,” he emphasized.
