The political committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to participate fully in the by-elections, sources revealed on Thursday.
As per the sources, this decision was taken in a meeting of the committee, which was chaired by Salman Akram Raja. Sources said that the political committee has agreed not to leave political forums vacant and to remain active in the electoral field.
The committee has recommended that the name of an alternative candidate be proposed in consultation with the member disqualified due to court punishment. Consultations were also held in the meeting regarding the nomination of the opposition leader; however, the political committee recommended postponing the new nomination until the court decision.
According to sources, the committee has suggested that the opposition leader should be nominated from within the party. Most of the members of the committee have opposed the nomination of Mahmood Khan Achakzai as the opposition leader and have taken the position that the appointment of the new opposition leader should be implemented only after the completion of the current court process.
