Cement prices in Pakistan have declined due to the recent spell of heavy rains and flooding across the country, according to official data.
Figures released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) show that the average price of a 50-kg bag of cement has fallen to Rs. 1,412, down by Rs. 36 compared to last year’s average of Rs. 1,448.
Despite the overall decline, cement prices vary significantly across different cities. The FBS report notes that the highest price recorded was Rs. 1,510 per bag in Quetta, while the lowest was Rs. 1,340 in Bannu.
In major cities, cement is being sold at Rs. 1,367 in Islamabad, Rs. 1,372 in Rawalpindi, Rs. 1,440 in Gujranwala, Rs. 1,430 in Sialkot, Rs. 1,443 in Lahore, Rs. 1,370 in Faisalabad, Rs. 1,400 in Sargodha, Rs. 1,409 in Multan, Rs. 1,440 in Bahawalpur, and Rs. 1,367 in Karachi.
In other regions, the price stood at Rs. 1,427 in Hyderabad, Rs. 1,465 in Sukkur, Rs. 1,407 in Larkana, Rs. 1,350 in Peshawar, Rs. 1,483 in Khuzdar, and Rs. 1,510 in Quetta.
The decline in cement prices is being linked to reduced construction activity caused by ongoing rains and flooding, which has affected demand in several parts of the country.
