The court has dismissed the case against the accused Salman Farooqi and Owais Hashmi in the youth torture case, as reported by national media on Saturday.
According to details, the hearing of the youth torture case in Defence Phase 6 took place in Karachi City Court, where on court orders the investigating officer presented the challan and the C-Class report.
It was stated in the report that the complainant, the young man Dheeraj alias Dhan Raj, gave a statement that he does not want action against the accused Salman Farooqi and Owais Hashmi.
The police report mentioned that the youth declared the case to have been registered on the basis of a misunderstanding, and also gave it in writing that Salman Farooqi did not misbehave. The complainant also submitted an affidavit stating that he does not want to pursue the case.
The police said that after the complainant’s statement, charges of death threats and other allegations have been dropped.
On the police report, the court dismissed the case against the accused Salman Farooqi and Owais Hashmi.
It should be remembered that the case was registered at Gizri Police Station after a video went viral on social media showing a car driver assaulting motorcyclist Sudheer in the presence of his sister.
In the video, the accused abused and threatened, while the young man’s sister kept pleading with folded hands but the accused remained unmoved. Women were also pushed, and death threats were given, with torture and humiliation in front of the crowd.
Later, in the Defence torture case, the victim youth forgave Salman Farooqi in court, saying that he had no objection to whatever decision the court would make.
