ISLAMABAD: Pakistan reported 16 more Covid-19 cases and one more death due to the virus in the last 24 hours (Sunday), according to data released by the National Institute of Health (NIH) on Monday morning. This brings the death toll to 30,659 and the total number of infections to 1,580,891.

The rise in Covid-19 cases and deaths highlights the continued threat of the virus in Pakistan, despite efforts to contain its spread through increased testing and vaccination. Health authorities have urged citizens to continue following safety protocols and get vaccinated to curb the spread of the virus.
The NIH data made available on Monday further revealed that 2,221 tests were conducted throughout Pakistan during the same period, with a positivity ratio of 0.72%. The number of patients in critical care stood at nine.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that as of April 24, 2023, a total of 338,508,314 vaccine doses have been administered in Pakistan.
