In response to the federal cabinet and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s refusal to release funding for the elections in Punjab, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry urged the Supreme Court to begin contempt of court proceedings against them.
Taking to the Twitter, he asserted that the PTI is united on the subject of negotiations while the government is exhibiting no real interest in doing so. He highlighted that only within the parameters established by the Supreme Court and the Constitution can negotiations take place.

The former minister said that it will be tantamount to sabotaging the constitution if elections are not held in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and negotiations cannot be outside the constitution.
The State Bank’s refusal to disburse funds following the Supreme Court’s ruling, according to Mr. Chaudhry, is a violation of the court’s order, and the top court must begin legal action for contempt of court against the Prime Minister and the Cabinet and remove them from office.
In another tweet, he wrote that the parliament doesn’t have the authority to prevent people from voting, adding that such a parliament can lay the foundation of a fascist government.
Given that the constitution expressly declares that the parliament has no authority over election expenses, he contended that any democratic system could not be connected to such a parliament and its actions.
