KARACHI: Sindh’s ruling party, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) appears to have taken lead in Sunday’s elections held in different Union Councils’ wards across Sindh province.

The Sindh election commissioner, it may be recalled, had announced it will conduct the local government re-polling in 15 districts of the province on March 26. The polling had earlier been postponed due to various reasons.
According to details gathered by MM News, Due to an altercation at the polling places on January 15, the Electoral Commission delayed the results of these UCs; therefore, re-voting was conducted on Sunday.

The elections were postponed at 28 polling stations because of violent incidents, and the wrong allotment of election symbols at 50 polling stations. The re-polling at two polling stations is taking place because of the apex court order and in one polling station under a decision by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Data made available with MM News shows PPP’s candidate Kashif Ali Bhaiyo won the election from the polling station of UC 28 Kandhkot, Syed Ali Abbas from Ward number 5 of Town Committee Khairpur, Ahmad Abdul Qadr Gopang from UC 55 Shikarpur, Ghummoon Bhail from Ward number 3 of UC Tharparker, Muhammad Azam from UC 25 Sukkur, Dalip Kumar from Ward number 11 of Municipal Committee Umar Kot.
Besides these,PPP’s candidates from Hyderabad’s UC 28’s ward number 1 and UC 35’s ward number 3 won the elections and succeeded to elect as Chairman and Vice Chairman of both UCs.
