ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has reiterated that Pakistan desires to further strengthen trade and economic relations with the members of the European Union (EU).
The foreign minister made these remarks while talking to the envoys of European countries in Islamabad today (Thursday). “There are great opportunities for investment in Pakistan,” FM Qureshi added.
FM Qureshi pointed out that despite COVID-19, there has been a significant increase in investment portfolio from European companies to Pakistan, expressing satisfaction that bilateral trade has also improved.
He said a plan was being prepared in order to make the joint economic commissioners with the European countries more vibrant and effective. “We are providing every possible facilitations to the entrepreneurs from Europe,” he added.
Talking about the Roshan Digital Account, the foreign minister said the expatriate Pakistanis have sent five hundred million dollars to Pakistan through this initiative in the last few months.
FM Qureshi highlighted that the sides need to evolve a joint strategy to remove hurdles in the way of bilateral trade. “Institutional cooperation is a must to further strengthen the bilateral relationship,” he concluded.
