ISLAMABAD: An accountability court (AC) in Islamabad today (Thursday) has ordered the concerned authorities to seize assets and properties of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in Toshakhana reference.
As earlier directed, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), in today’s hearing, submitted details of Nawaz Sharif’s ‘moveable and immoveable properties’.
Accountability judge Asghar Ali then released the orders to forfeit assets including national and international bank accounts, 1,650 canals of agricultural land in Lahore, 102 canals in Sheikhupura, his house in Murree.
Two tractors and the cars (Mercedes, and Land Cruisers) Nawaz allegedly obtained from the Toshakhana after paying 15 percent of the price are also included among assets the court has ordered be seized.
Earlier in June, the accountability court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Nawaz and in July directed the Foreign Office to execute the arrest warrants through the Pakistan High Commission in London. In September, the accountability court declared him a proclaimed offender.
Ex-PM Sharif, former president Asif Ali Zardari and former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gillani are also named in the reference for allegedly obtaining luxury vehicles from the treasury.
Nawaz Sharif is in London for medical treatment since November last year. He left abroad after the court granted him bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case and the Al Azizia reference.
