KARACHI: The district police have arrested 16 gamblers during a raid in Karachi’s Manzoor Colony Awami Chowk and recovered bet money from their possession.
According to details, the Baloch Colony Police team under the supervision of Station House Officer (SHO), Zubair Nawaz, acting on a tip-off conducted a raid in its jurisdiction and arrested 16 gamblers.
A police spokesperson has informed that the raid team confiscated gambling equipment, bet money and their mobile phones and wallets from their possession.
The spokesperson further said that a case has been registered against the arrested accused under FIR No. 422/2020 under Section 5 / 5A Gambling Act. The arrested accused were later handed over to the investigating authorities.
Earlier in September, the district police raided a snooker club near Saeedabad and arrested five gamblers and recovered bet money from their possession.
On the complaint of social media users that betting is going on, a police party of Saeedabad Police Station raided the snooker club situated near Sector 9/C and apprehended five gamblers.
A police spokesperson informed that Case No. 473/2020 was registered against the accused in Saeedabad police station under Section 5/5 of the Gambling Act.
