LAHORE: Pakistani TV host Nida Yasir today (Thursday) has apologized for questioning the parents of Marwah, who was kidnapped, raped, and burnt on her morning show.
The renowned TV host took to Instagram and shared an apology video with a caption, “Please forgive me.” Nida Yasir owned up to her mistake and apologized for calling the Marwah parents on her show.
Nida Yasir received intense backlash recently for inviting Marwah’s parents to cash in on their grief. The parents cried bitterly on the show along with the host herself. The social media users bashed Nida Yasir for being insensitive for inviting the victim’s parent quite soon after the incident.
Nida Yasir starts the video by apologizing to the viewers for hurting their sentiments. She explained that her intentions were not to cash on the family’s tragedy but to provide them with the platform to share their grievances.
“My morning show is meant to entertain the people, to enlighten their day, but for this special episode, I dropped all my pre-planned episodes of the show and made sure to convey the message to the concerned authorities,” she added.
However, she also claimed that it was because of her show that Marwah’s family got financial help due to their poor economic situation. “It was because of my show that the rapist was caught two days after the show aired,” she concluded.
