KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Syed Khursheed Shah has said that efforts are being made to keep him away from the parliament as he has always spoken of the supremacy of the parliament.
Talking to media after appearing in the accountability court, Khursheed Shah said that he had spoken of enacting legislation in the parliament for which he was being punished and he was being deprived of raising the voice of the people of his area.
He added that he has been in custody for 12 months but so far not a single piece of evidence has been presented. “I have become a member of the assembly with the votes of the people 8 times. What will be the greater accountability from the people and what will happen? Allah and the people are the biggest accountants,” Shah maintained.
Khurshid Shah said that he has served the people by considering politics as worship. The reference against him is false and has no basis. Shah said that if they could not bring other people back home then how will they bring Nawaz Sharif.
Criticizing the government, the PPP leader said that unemployment and inflation have deprived the people of their livelihood. “Even the foreign policy of the government has failed. Whenever you talk to them about unemployment and inflation, they talk about NRO. Tell me who is asking them for NRO,” he added.
