RAWALPINDI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) today (Saturday) has decided to bring back former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif.
According to details, the accountability bureau will file an appeal in Islamabad High Court (IHC) for the execution of Nawaz Sharif’s sentence in Al Azizia reference. The bureau has also decided to inform IHC that PML-N supremo is absconding.
In this regard, NAB officials asserted that the bail of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has become ineffective and he was now a fugitive accused and criminal.
Relevant sources informed that the anti-graft body will file an appeal in accountability court to declare Nawaz Sharif proclaimed offender in a reference accusing him of receiving luxury vehicles and gifts from Toshakhana.
Sources further said that the bureau will contact the United Kingdom through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the deportation of former Prime Minister.
It is worth mentioning here that Nawaz Sharif is currently in London for treatment after having been granted bail on medical grounds.
The accountability court of Islamabad had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Sharif over his failure to attend the trial proceeding in Toshakhana case and had also initiated the process to declare him a proclaimed offender.
Earlier on August 21, Federal Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz had vowed that the PTI-led federal government will bring back former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif using all legal means that are available.
“The government will approach the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) which will in turn ask the foreign ministry to put in a request to the British government for the PML-N supremo’s extradition,” he informed.
