KARACHI: Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) Director Accounts Imran Zaidi has allegedly constituted a private team to cover-up alleged corruption.
According to sources, Director Accounts Imran Zaidi has allegedly assigned important financial responsibilities to five retired private individuals. KWSB Director Accounts is serving at the same post for the past 12 years due to the alleged patronage of Sindh politicians.
Sources in the finance department revealed that not only Director Accounts Imran Zaidi but also Deputy Managing Director Finance Saqib and other officers are also involved in corruption.
Sources further claimed that no payment is made without the permission of retired employee Muhammad Saleem. The transfer of money from one bank account to another is done only by Imran Zaidi and his private and retired employees.
The whole matter is handled systematically by ten employees. Sources also claimed that two officials from a private bank are also involved in the whole process.
Recently, dozens of contractors had staged a protest outside Director Accounts Imran Zaidi’s office. Sources said that checks issued for the payment of contractors are also forcibly withheld and huge bribes are being collected on them. Contractors claimed that the officials had already received a 30 percent commission from them for issuing checks.
