ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Parliament’s Special Committee on Kashmir Shehryar Khan Afridi has asserted that Pakistan continues to provide political and diplomatic support to Kashmiris.
The statement came while addressing a seminar at National Press Club Islamabad today (Sunday), to mark Kashmir Accession Day.
On the occasion, Shehryar Afridi strongly denounced the Indian-occupation regime for enacting new laws to enable illegal military cantonments in Indian occupied Kashmir.
“Thousands of Indian labourers have been brought for construction near the army Cantonment,” he added. He further said, “India is violating International law by settling Indians in the UN-recognized disputed territory.”
The Federal Minister said that India wants to bring demographic changes in the IoK in order to artificially turn Muslim dominated Kashmir into Hindu majority territory.
He further said that Indian brutal forces were inflicting innumerable atrocities in the disputed territory, and the unarmed Kashmiri people were fighting the dangerous weapons of the brutal force.
The minister also said that like Darfur (South Sudan) and East Timor Kashmiris should be given the right to vote to decide their political future. However, he said that the United Nations continues to turn a blind eye to the Kashmir issue.
