ISLAMABAD: A woman died after being hit by a bullet fired during aerial firing at a wedding ceremony in Sher Dhamial Village of Union Council (UC) 16 of Islamabad.
According to details, locals shifted the dead body to the PIMS hospital soon after the incident. The deceased woman was identified as Sughra Bibi wife of Ashiq Hussain.
Sources have informed that there was a function to celebrate the wedding of the son of a local influential person in Sher Dhamial village. Sources further informed that more than 80 persons were carrying unlicensed weapons at the wedding ceremony.
During the ceremony, the guests having weapons started aerial firing. As a result, one of the stray bullets hit a woman and she died on the spot. Sources also claimed that the police allegedly didn’t take any action to stop the violation of aerial firing and wedding function to contain the outbreak of coronavirus.
The news of the aerial firing and death of the woman went viral on social media. In this regard, the local police immediately rushed to the crime scene. A police spokesman informed that SHOs of police stations Lohi Bher and Sihala were on the crime scene to investigate the case.
