PESHAWAR: Former adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information Ajmal Wazir has claimed that the leaked audio clip, he was fired over, was heavily ‘edited’.
In a video message on Twitter, Ajmal Wazir said that the leaked audio had taken clips from different meetings and discussions, which were then edited. “A clip was taken from a meeting. A discussion was happening in some other place and then it was edited,” he added.

Commenting on the advertisements, he claimed that there were three advertisements that were to be given to television channels. “According to the terms of business for the KP government, the minister of the relevant department chairs the steering committee which takes such decisions,” he added.
He further said, “All three times, the advertisements were for the health department, which is headed by Taimur Saleem Jhagra. Other people such as health secretary, DG are involved, I don’t have the powers.”
Ajmal Wazir said that he worked hard for the people of the province since the pandemic began. “I didn’t take any Eid holidays as well, and spent the whole days in isolation centres and hospitals,” he remarked.
“The matter would be cleared once when I will reveal the names of those who plotted something third-class against him,” he warned. He also said, “Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of accountability is for every member of the party. Everyone has to answer.”
Earlier on Saturday, Wazir was removed from the office under Section 3 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advisers and Special Assistants to the Chief Minister (Appointment) Act, 1989.
Wazir was replaced by Kamran Bangash, who is also the special assistant to the chief minister for local government and rural development. The reason behind Wazir’s removal is said to be a leaked audio clip and allegations that he received a commission from an advertising agency.
