ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Senator Shibli Faraz has asserted that coronavirus infections were declining due to the smart lockdown strategy being implemented across the country.
Addressing a ceremony today (Saturday), Senator Shibli Faraz informed that Pakistan was the first to implement the smart lockdown strategy. “The strategy is now being adopted by many countries around the world,” he claimed.
The Information Minister further said that the government was taking stern steps to contain the coronavirus outbreak. He said, “Efforts have been taken to increase the testing capacity in the country.”
Commenting on the coronavirus resources, Shibli Faraz said that the number of testing laboratories has been increased to 129 from just 2. “Ventilators are being produced in Pakistan by the Ministry of Science and Technology,” he added.
The federal minister also thanked and appreciated the people of Pakistan for cooperating with the government by following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent the coronavirus.
Senator Shibli Faraz also appreciated the role of doctors, nurses, and other paramedical staff who were treating coronavirus patients in hospitals and isolation centers across the country.
It is pertinent to mention here that coronavirus has claimed 68 more lives in the country in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 4,619. According to the Pakistan Health Ministry, 3,387 new infections were detected in the past 24 hours, taking the national tally to 225,283.
