ISLAMABAD: The PTI-led federal government has defended the presented Budget for the upcoming fiscal year, saying no new tax was imposed in the budget, instead, relief was given.
Addressing a press conference alongside Murad Saeed and Senator Shibli Faraz, Federal Minister for Industries Hammad Azhar dismissed the objections by the opposition over the Budget and said that it was merely an attempt at political point-scoring.
“Political point-scoring is now a tradition in our country. It is incomprehensible why the opposition is rejecting the budget,” Hammad Azhar added.
The Federal Minister further said, “I was expecting support from the opposition since we are facing a grave health emergency, but unfortunately, the opposition succumbed to their old habit of looking to their own interests.”
Hammad Azhar also said that the oil prices had never seen such a drastic reduction. “We had reduced the petrol prices previously. The new hike in prices is because of the surge in fuel prices in international markets. Please get your facts straight,” he added.

On the occasion, Minister for Information Shibli Faraz said that opposition parties were not sincere with the country. “Opposition’s press conference was nothing but a bundle of lies,” he added.
The information minister further said that it is inexplicable how people like Nawaz, Shehbaz, Maryam, and Shahid Khaqan of the PML-N are mocking us.
“The opposition’s delusions will all be wiped clean tomorrow when the budget will be passed with full force,” the information minister claimed.
