KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said 1,949 new cases of COVID-19 have detected while 38 more patients died during the last 24 hours.
According to a statement issued from the CM House today, around 4536 samples were tested against which 1,949 new cases emerged.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced that 38 more people died from coronavirus in the past 24 hours. Sindh’s death toll has climbed to 1,243. The chief minister said that 696 patients are in critical condition while 116 are on ventilators.
While speaking about the recoveries, CM Shah said in the last 24 hours, 1,452 patients recovered from the COVID-19. The chief minister urged the citizens to follow SOPS and avoid going out of their home without any solid reason.
Of the newly reported cases, 1,139 belonged to the provincial capital, he stated, adding that 473 people were diagnosed with the virus in East district, 203 in South, 165 in Central, 134 in Korangi, 89 in Malir and 75 in West district.
Moreover, Hyderabad saw 99 new Covid-19 cases, Ghotki 93, Khairpur 68, Sukkur 54, Shikarpur 46, Shaheed Benazirabad 45, Sanghar 32, Mirpurkhas 27, Larkana 25, Jamshoro 17, Naushehro Feroze 16, Dadu 15, Badin 12, Kashmore nine, Umerkot seven, Sujawal six, Tando Allahyar and Jacobabad three each, and Tando Muhammad Khan and Matiari two apiece.
The coronavirus infections in Pakistan are constantly increasing, while the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has surged to 198,883 in the country today.
According to the National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 3,138 cases of coronavirus were reported while 74 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
As many as 73,471 patients have recovered from the disease, while the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases.
Earlier this month, the World Health Organization advised Pakistan to impose a two-week strict lockdown, declaring the country the second-most vulnerable to the pandemic after neighboring Afghanistan.
The recommendation came as infections skyrocketed when the government lifted its lockdown restrictions of varying strictness in late May, ahead of the Muslim festival of Eid al-Fitr.
