ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Dr Zafar Mirza on Friday said that the number of COVID-19 cases are decreasing due to the provision of best medical facilities by the government at hospitals across the country.
Talking to a media today in Islamabad, Mirza expressed hope that the government would control the COVD-19 epidemic in days to come as it was making hectic efforts to successfully contain the deadly virus.
He said Pakistan was combating the COVID-19 through a robust and coordinated national response. Mirza said Pakistan was implementing smart lockdowns rather than a generalized lockdown as PM Imran Khan was cognizant of the financial hardship of around 25 percent population living below the poverty line.
Responding to a question, he said that the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) had been instructed to make sure the availability of medicines used for the management of COVID-19 patients.
Mirza announced that health ministry would take stern action against elements involved in overcharging or black marketing of life-saving drugs used by COVID-19 patients. Zafar Mirza said that coronavirus cases will spike again if precautionary measures will not be followed.
“We are telling everyone repeatedly that the only way to contain the spread of the virus is by following precautionary measures. People using public transport or going into shops should wear masks,” he added.
