ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has telephoned Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari today (Thursday) and discussed the ongoing coronavirus situation.
According to details, PM Imran highlighted the steps taken by the federal government in order to contain the outbreak of the coronavirus.
PM Imran Khan further highlighted the exceptional challenges faced by the developing countries to save lives from Covid-19 as well as fighting poverty and hunger.
PM Imran also assured to further deepen bilateral relations with Nigeria – particularly in trade and economic sectors – in the context of Pakistan’s ‘Engage Africa’ Initiative.
Both the leaders agreed that Pakistan and Nigeria would work closely in New York alongside the UN Secretary-General and other interested countries and partners to advance the shared goals.
The Prime Minister also noted the response from the United Nations, IMF, the World Bank and other stakeholders amid coronavirus. He also underscored the need for additional measures and resources for regenerating growth and livelihoods.
Earlier on May 4, PM Imran telephoned his Ethiopian counterpart Abiy Ahmed Ali to discuss matters of mutual interest and the global coronavirus pandemic.
Both the leaders also leaders agreed on the importance of working together to evolve a comprehensive plan for debt relief issues.
