PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has reported 211 new COVID-19 cases in province, taking the provincial tally to 3,499.
The province’s death toll from the coronavirus rose to 194 with nine new deaths reported-five in Peshawar and one each in Charsadda, Mardan, Mansehra and Haripur.

Meanwhile, the provincial health department has decided to conduct a research on the factors behind the high coronavirus mortality rate in the provincial.
A senior official of Pakhtunkhwa health department informed that a panel of clinical experts has been constituted to ascertain the factors behind the high COVID-19 death rate in the province.
He further said that senior physician Dr Amjad Mehbood would head the panel which will study different factors including the ages of deceased, other ailments and other related facts.
The panel would also study that at what stages patients were brought to the hospitals and what kind of treatment they were provided, he added.
The health authorities have already instructed all the major hospitals in KP to give charts comprising data of the fatalities caused by the coronavirus, the official informed.
The provincial health authorities have also issued guidelines for the burial of COVID-19 victims. According to a statement, prior to departure disinfectants should be prepared and all essential gear including PPE should be assembled.
It further said one pair of disposable gloves (non-sterile, ambidextrous), one pair of heavy-duty gloves, disposable gown, and face protection: goggles and surgical mask, footwear: shoes with puncture-resistant soles and disposable overshoes should be provided to those conducting the burial.
The burial team (including family members involved in the bathing) should put on all PPE including shoe covers, gown, face mask and safety goggles and gloves.
