KARACHI: Sindh Government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab has said all the allegations levelled against the Sindh government for soliciting bribes from traders were false and baseless.
The spokesperson has rejected allegations claiming that the province was soliciting bribes to allow resumption of trade activities in the city.
Wahab, in a video message, said that such allegations are an attempt to stigmatize provincial officials, adding that severe action will be taken against the elements involved in the propaganda.
He warned that the province had asked the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other agencies to investigate the matter and take severe action against those spreading fake news during such serious situation of the epidemic.
The spokesperson said that he would contact the FIA and other agencies against the rumor mongers, adding that all such elements could ever do was indulge in blame others.
Wahab reminded the people that the province was doing everything in its power to ensure people were not afflicted with hardships during these times and that it had taken safety steps after the first case was reported on 26 February.
At this critical juncture, absurd and baseless allegations must be stopped. “If any person or association has proof, we assure you of action,” he concluded.
Earlier, the provincial government had issued Ramadan guidelines for businesses operating in Sind, making some allowances to resume partial activities.
