KARACHI: The Sindh government has finalised standard operating procedures (SOPs) for businesses during the holy month of Ramazan which is commencing from Saturday amid a lockdown.
The Sindh government has limited Taraweeh prayers in mosques for staff members and a maximum of five people in a move to curtail the spread of the virus. However, taraweeh congregations at marriage halls and other open places in the province have been banned.
According to the SOP approved by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, there would be a complete lockdown from 5PM onwards, while businesses will be allowed to operate from 9AM to 3PM.
The businesses exempted from the lockdown would be allowed to operate till 5 PM. Grocery shops will be opened from 8AM to 5PM. It has been decided that superstores failing to implement the SOPs would be sealed.
The Ehtram-E-Ramazan Ordinance would be enforced and restaurants will now be allowed to deliver food from 5PM till 10 PM. No delivery service will be allowed during Sehri.
Shopping centres and the malls will remain closed and strict action would be taken against the violators, while only online business would be allowed. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken President Arif Alvi and Governor Sindh Imran Ismail into confidence over the SOPs.
