ISLAMABAD: China reaffirmed its support to strengthen Pakistan’s capacity in the battle against the COVID-19 epidemic.
According to a press statement issued by Foreign Office, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing met Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss Pakistan-China bilateral relations, battle against the coronavirus, CPEC and other issues of mutual interest.
Thanking Bejing for extending support to PM Imran Khan’s Global Initiative for Debt Relief at the recently-held G-20 meeting, Quershi underscored that the two countries are all-weather strategic partners and have preserved the finer tradition of standing by each other through thick and thin.
Appreciating the government and people of China for exhibiting solidarity and moral and material support to Pakistan in the wake of epidemic, the FM Quershi maintained that large amounts of medical gear sent by China have significantly strengthened Pakistan’s capacity to stop the outbreak.
Citing to CPEC as the transformational project, FM noted that completion of the projects was number one priority of the government.
On this occasion, Ambassador Yao Jing said China is Pakistan’s close friend and steadfast colleague and Islamabad had also extended great support to China during the coronavirus epidemic.
Recalling President Alvi’s visit to Chiana in March 2020, Yao Jing said that the gesture communicated marvelous solidarity to the Chinese nationals and further cemented the ties between both countries.
Reiterating the consensus reached between the highest leadership of both countries, both officials urged that the two neighbours would continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
